Washington D.C. – Belinda Smith-Cicarella is the 2005 National Leadership Award recipient and the 2005 Businesswoman of the Year Award recipient. She has been appointed to the Business Advisory Council, serves on the Board of Directors for a successful Health Center, and is a Professor of Business from Iowa where she has taught Business Law, Multinational Finance, Marketing, Professional Public Speaking, International Business, Spanish, Public Relations, and related Business courses. Her Graduate degree is from California State University at Long Beach where she graduated in the top 1% of her class. In addition to a M.B.A., while earning her Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management - she studied in Merida, Yucatán where she also worked as a Foreign Translator for the Yucatán Government. This experience has served her well given that she has been invited on business by two foreign Presidents, one to attend trade meetings in Mexico and the other for a finance/commerce negotiation in Gabon, Africa. Besides politics and the academia, Ms. Smith-Cicarella also excels in real estate - purchasing, administering all legalities, and marketing homes on contract based on amortized loans.
Previously, Belinda worked as a Marketing Administrator for the Headquarters of American Honda Motor Inc. where she was one of nine candidates selected from over 3000 applicants nationwide. During her career with Honda, she completed extensive work rotations which allowed her to experience various divisions of Honda, such as: Auto, Motorcycle, Power Equipment, Acura, Finance, Export, Parts, Advertising, Manufacturing, Service, Sales, ISD & of course…the Honda Race Team. Furthermore, she was a central speaker at many Domestic and International Honda Conventions and Training Seminars, not to mention implemented marketing programs in Latin America and the Caribbean that resulted in 100% sales increase in the focus areas. Most recently, Ms. Smith-Cicarella was an owner/operator of an international overstocked goods company, (and has traveled to 23 foreign countries), buying and selling nearly 1 million units in just the last two years of business - in commerce with such companies as: Mattel, Barnes & Noble, a Pepsi distributor, American Airlines, 99c Only Stores & Menards.
